07:43 AM EDT, 09/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) has signed an agreement to buy up to 3.9 million carbon offset credits from Brazilian investment bank BTG Pactual's forestry unit through 2038, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing the companies.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the report said.

Meta agreed to purchase 1.3 million carbon credits and options to purchase an additional 2.6 million credits, Reuters said.

Meta and BTG Pactual did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
