05:57 AM EDT, 05/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) backed OpenAI has agreed to acquire Windsurf, the AI-assisted coding tool formerly known as Codeium, for roughly $3 billion, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The report said the deal is not yet finalized.

Windsurf had recently been seeking funding at a $3 billion valuation and was valued at $1.25 billion in a prior round led by General Catalyst, Bloomberg said.

OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment, while Windsurf couldn't be reached out immediately.
