Market Chatter: NASA Officials Split Between Boeing's Starliner, SpaceX's Crew Dragon for Astronauts' Return
Aug 2, 2024 10:14 AM

12:48 PM EDT, 08/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- NASA officials are discussing whether to use Boeing's ( BA ) troubled Starliner capsule or use SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft to bring back the crew from the International Space Station, CNBC reported Friday, citing a person familiar with the situation.

The agency is worried about not having identified a root cause responsible for the failure of multiple thrusters on the Starliner during docking, the person was quoted as saying.

There is a lack of agreement among people responsible for making the decision and the outcome of discussions remains unpredictable, the report added, citing the person.

Boeing ( BA ), SpaceX and NASA did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.

Shares of Boeing ( BA ) fell 4.9% in recent trading on Friday.
