Market Chatter: Reddit in Talks for New Content Sharing Deal With Google
Sep 17, 2025 9:59 AM

12:41 PM EDT, 09/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Reddit ( RDDT ) is in early discussions with Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) for a new content sharing agreement that would go beyond transactional licensing deals and generate more value for the data it provides, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing executives familiar with the talks.

Reddit ( RDDT ) is proposing an arrangement that would allow deeper integration with Google's ( GOOG ) artificial intelligence products and encourage users to actively contribute to its online forums to drive growth while generating content for future AI training, the report said.

The company is also targeting a new deal structure involving dynamic pricing with Google ( GOOG ) and OpenAI, under which Reddit ( RDDT ) would earn more as its data become more valuable to AI large language models, according to the report. Microsoft ( MSFT ) is a major investor in OpenAI.

Reddit ( RDDT ), Google ( GOOG ), and OpenAI did not immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
