Market Chatter: Reddit Sues 4 Firms Over Alleged Data Theft by Scraping Google Results

01:56 PM EDT, 10/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Reddit ( RDDT ) filed a lawsuit in federal court against four companies for allegedly stealing data by scraping Google search results that showed Reddit ( RDDT ) content, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The lawsuit filed at the US District Court for the Southern District of New York is seeking a permanent injunction and financial damages against Nvidia ( NVDA ) -backed Perplexity, and data scrapers SerpApi, Oxylabs and AWMProxy, according to the report.

SerpApi, Oxylabs, and AWMProxy allegedly sold data to artificial intelligence companies, the report said, citing the filing.

Reddit ( RDDT ), SerpApi, Oxylabs, AWMProxy, Perplexity and Nvidia ( NVDA ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
