Market Chatter: Rivian Automotive Pauses Production of Electric Vans for Amazon

07:28 AM EDT, 08/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Rivian Automotive ( RIVN ) has paused the production of electric commercial vans for Amazon.com ( AMZN ) due to parts shortages, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing the electric vehicle producer.

The work stoppage started earlier this month at Rivian's Illinois factory, according to the report. Rivian did not disclose which parts were short in supply but said it expects to recover missed output, Bloomberg said. The company did not provide a timeline, the report added.

An Amazon ( AMZN ) spokesperson told Bloomberg that the company was aware of Rivian's production issues and said the matter was not expected to impact Amazon ( AMZN ).

Rivian and Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
