Market Chatter: RTX Subsidiary Collins Seeks to Back Out of NASA Spacesuit Contract
Jun 26, 2024 4:25 AM

07:09 AM EDT, 06/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- RTX's (RTX) Collins Aerospace subsidiary is negotiating with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to exit its contract to build spacesuits for astronauts on the International Space Station, Reuters reported late Tuesday, citing two people familiar with the matter.

The spacesuit contract is a component of a $3.5 billion package that NASA awarded to both Collins and Axiom Space in 2022 for ISS and future moon missions, according to the report.

After receiving an initial $97 million, Collins has been eager to wind down its involvement, Reuters reported.

Collins and NASA did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
