06:20 AM EDT, 07/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- South Korea is planning to instruct carriers flying Boeing ( BA ) aircraft in the country to inspect their fuel switches in line with a 2018 advisory from the US Federal Aviation Administration, Reuters reported Monday, citing a spokesperson for the South Korean transport ministry.
Fuel switch locks are facing scrutiny after a preliminary report on last month's fatal crash of an Air India Boeing 787-8 referenced a 2018 FAA advisory, the news agency reported.
The FAA advisory recommended but did not mandate operators of various Boeing ( BA ) models, including the 787, to check the locking mechanism of fuel cutoff switches to make sure they couldn't be accidentally moved, according to the report.
Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
