10:25 AM EDT, 07/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Starbucks ( SBUX ) is testing various drinks that have lower sugar contents compared with its traditional offerings as part of a larger menu overhaul that aims to boost store traffic, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing an interview with Starbuck's product development head Dana Pellicano.
Sugar is a key area of focus as the company is exploring other sweeteners such as agave, dates, and coconut, Pellicano said in the interview. The coffee chain is also planning vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, the report said.
New food or drink items will start with a test in five US stores followed by a wider roll-out if the tests are deemed successful, according to the report.
