02:00 PM EST, 11/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) has been sued over a 2023 crash in Washington state that left one person dead, after rescuers allegedly struggled to open the vehicle's door, Bloomberg reported Friday.
The electric-vehicle maker's Model 3 sedan "suddenly and rapidly accelerated out of control," then struck a utility pole and caught fire, according to the suit filed in federal court in Washington state.
Tesla's "defective door handle design" made the doors inoperable and hindered rescue efforts, the complaint stated, according to the report.
The new lawsuit, which follows a slew of other cases involving Tesla crashes and defects, accuses the automaker of negligence and misleading customers.
Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
