Market Chatter: TikTok Plans Legal Fight If US Divestment Bill Becomes Law
Mar 13, 2024 6:27 AM

08:59 AM EDT, 03/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- TikTok plans a legal fight before it takes into account any divestment plans from its parent ByteDance if the latest US divestment bill becomes law, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing unnamed people familiar with the plan.

A sale of TikTok would be the last resort, the report added, citing the people.

There are no final plans yet and it all depends on how legislation moves ahead, Bloomberg reported, citing the sources.

A TikTok spokesperson declined Bloomberg's request for comment on the company's plans but said that the legislation "has a predetermined outcome: a total ban of TikTok in the United States."

Neither TikTok nor ByteDance immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
