12:18 PM EDT, 09/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor ( TM ) will start selling proprietary home chargers for its electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in Japan as early as this fall, Nikkei Asia reported Tuesday.

The move comes as the automaker prepares to launch a revamped RAV4 sport utility vehicle around the same time.

Toyota's ( TM ) new 6-kilowatt charger, about twice as powerful as other models, can provide roughly 300 kilometers of driving range with an eight-hour charge. The device is expected to cost around 200,000 yen ($1,350), and buyers who purchase it with a chargeable vehicle can receive 100,000 yen in points for accessories, according to the report.

Toyota Motor ( TM ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
