Market Chatter: Trump Administration Not Seeking Equity in Micron Technology, Taiwan Semiconductor

07:08 AM EDT, 08/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Trump administration is contemplating taking equity stakes in companies getting funds from the 2022 CHIPS Act, though it has no such plans for Micron Technology ( MU ) , Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) and other bigger semiconductor companies that are boosting investments in the US, Reuters reported Friday, citing a White House official.

Micron and Taiwan Semiconductor didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.

Micron shares were up 1.1% in recent premarket activity, while Taiwan Semiconductor rose 0.2%.
