06:30 AM EST, 03/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- President Donald Trump is exploring the possibility of exempting certain agricultural products from the tariffs imposed on Canada and Mexico, offering relief to specific sectors affected by the new import taxes, Bloomberg reported Thursday.
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins told Bloomberg News that "everything is on the table" and expressed hope that the administration might provide exemptions for products like potash and fertilizer.
The report said the consideration follows Trump's recent imposition of 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico as part of his broader strategy to raise revenue and encourage companies to shift manufacturing back to the US.
Lawmakers from agricultural states have urged the administration to exclude critical products such as fertilizers from these tariffs, the report said.
