Market Chatter: US FTC Plans to Probe Microsoft's Cloud Business
Nov 15, 2024 11:46 AM

01:04 PM EST, 11/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The US Federal Trade Commission is preparing to investigate anti-competitive practices at Microsoft's ( MSFT ) cloud-computing unit, the Financial Times reported Thursday, citing people with direct knowledge of the matter.

The FTC is looking into allegations that the tech giant is abusing its market position in productivity software by imposing licensing terms to prevent customers from moving their data from its Azure cloud service to those of competitors, the people reportedly told the Financial Times.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
