06:36 AM EDT, 09/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US lawmakers have sent letters to major companies in the country, including Amazon.com ( AMZN ) , Apple ( AAPL ) , and JPMorgan Chase ( JPM ) , seeking explanations for their continued use of the H-1B visas while cutting other jobs, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
In their letters, Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley and ranking member Dick Durbin requested detailed information on how many H-1B workers the companies employ, what wages they pay, and whether US workers were displaced in the process, the report said.
Firms that were sent letters, including Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ), Meta Platforms ( META ) , Microsoft ( MSFT ) , Walmart ( WMT ) , and Cognizant Technology Solutions ( CTSH ) , have been asked to respond by Oct. 10, the report added.
None of the companies that were sent letters immediately responded to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
