08:31 AM EDT, 03/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- McDonald's (MCD) on Friday experienced technology outages that disrupted operations of many of its outlets worldwide, including in Japan and Australia.
"We are aware of a technology outage, which impacted our restaurants; the issue is now being resolved," the fast-food giant told MT Newswires in an emailed statement. They added that "the issue is not related to a cybersecurity event."
On Friday, McDonald's Japan posted on social media platform X that many of its stores nationwide have temporarily suspended operations due to what it called a system failure. McDonald's branches in Australia were also affected by the technology outage, but the company said on X that most of its restaurants in the country were back online.
Customers in other countries have also posted complaints about outages across social media, according to media reports.
