( MDALF ) , a space mission partner to the rapidly expanding global space industry, that saw its shares gain 3.3% yesterday, on Tuesday announced it has been awarded a contract by SWISSto12 to provide antenna systems for three of the company's HummingSat satellites for geostationary orbit (GEO). No financial details were given.
According to Tuesday's statement, the satellites will be deployed as part of the Inmarsat-8 program to provide crucial safety services and support advances in emergency tracking.
As part of the contract, MDA Space ( MDALF ) will design and build high-performance L-Band navigation antennas, leveraging the company's leading-edge products already supplied for multiple global navigation and Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) missions. MDA Space ( MDALF ) will also design and configure the innovative packaging concepts that are required on the GEO SmallSat platform.
This is the second MDA Space ( MDALF ) contract in the GEO SmallSat market with SWISSto12. The antennas will be built, assembled and tested at the state-of-the-art MDA Space ( MDALF ) satellite production facility in Montreal.
MDA closed up $0.49 at $15.32 on the TSX yesterday.
