11:31 AM EDT, 05/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Stocks that have gained substantial popularity on social media soared intraday Tuesday, extending a rally triggered by the return of "Roaring Kitty," the person behind the so-called meme stock craze in 2021.

Shares of GameStop ( GME ) advanced 70% in Tuesday trade after closing up 74% on Monday. AMC Entertainment's ( AMC ) advanced 84% after climbing 78% the session before. Headphone maker KOSS' ( KOSS ) stock increased 43% following Monday's nearly 37% jump while BlackBerry (BB) gained 18% intraday following a 7.1% increase on Monday.

The person, whose legal name is Keith Gill, is known as "Roaring Kitty" on X and YouTube and "DeepF------Value" on Reddit. Late Sunday, after a seemingly three-year hiatus, Gill posted on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, a sketch of a video gamer leaning forward in a chair that tends to indicate things are getting serious. The post has received 24.7 million views as of midday Tuesday.

While Gill didn't mention any of the stocks directly on X, he has posted short videos since then featuring scenes from popular movies and TV shows.

A key position of Gill in 2021 was that GameStop ( GME ) was undervalued and that investors could rally behind the stock and squeeze Wall Street short sellers. Gill was hit with class-action lawsuits for his role in the rally and also testified before Congress' House Committee on Financial Services.

AMC announced in a Tuesday filing that it raised roughly $250 million through the sale of 72.5 million shares, completing its previously disclosed "at-the-market" equity offering launched late in March.

In March, GameStop ( GME ) reported a year-over-year decline in fiscal fourth-quarter revenue that reflected softer sales across all three of its operating segments. On a conference call at the time, then-Chief Executive Matthew Furlong said "GameStop ( GME ) is a much healthier business today than it was at the start of 2021," according to a Capital IQ transcript.
