Meta Platforms Cuts Subscription Rate for Ad-Free Facebook, Instagram in Europe

09:55 AM EST, 11/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) said Tuesday that it is reducing the subscription price for users of ad-free Facebook and Instagram in Europe by 40%.

The company also said it would offer a "less personalized ads" option to users of Facebook and Instagram with ads. This new option will use "significantly less data" when showing ads so that they may be "less relevant to a person's interests," according to Meta.

Meta said these changes are in response to demands from European Union regulators.

Meta's shares were up more than 2% in early trading Tuesday.
