05:29 AM EST, 12/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) has agreed to a 50 million Australian dollars ($31.7 million) settlement to resolve civil penalty proceedings launched by the Australian Information Commissioner in March 2020, the watchdog said Tuesday.
The settlement relates to eligible Australian Facebook users who were impacted by the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
The Commissioner alleged that the company violated the country's privacy laws after personal information of some Australian Facebook users was disclosed to the This is Your Digital Life app.
Meta Platforms ( META ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
