MetLife Wins in Employee Health Plan Misappropriation Case Appeal
Sep 28, 2024 4:02 PM

02:21 PM EDT, 09/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- MetLife ( MET ) got a favorable decision from the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit Wednesday in a case by former employees blaming the company for mismanaging their health plan and taking $65 million in drug rebates.

The court ruled that MetLife ( MET ) employees lacked standing to sue for improperly withheld rebate money, finding they couldn't prove injury and establish standing to sue or establish a right to the funds.

The employees' claim that MetLife's ( MET ) retention of the funds caused them to pay more for their insurance is "speculative," according to the ruling.

MetLife ( MET ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
