09:22 AM EDT, 09/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- July's remittances reached Mexico for a total of $5.33 billion, a 4.7% drop compared to the same month in 2024, and the fourth consecutive decline, noted BBVA Research.
From January to July 2025, remittances totaled $34.9 billion, a lower amount than what was received in 2024 and even lower than in 2023, said BBVA Research.
Between July 2024 and July 2025, when remittances were converted to Mexican pesos and adjusted for inflation, recipient Mexican households received 4.8% less in real terms, it added.
There are 4.3 million unauthorized Mexican immigrants residing in the United States, according to BBVA Research. Although this group has grown little in recent years, it remains by far the largest unauthorized immigrant population.
The unauthorized immigrant population in the U.S. currently stands at around 14 million.
