07:40 AM EDT, 07/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microchip Technology ( MCHP ) said on Tuesday it has launched the first devices in its planned family of PIC64 High-Performance Spaceflight Computing microprocessors.

The company said the PIC64-HPSC MPU, which it supplies to NASA and the aerospace industry, integrates widely adopted RISC-V CPUs augmented with vector-processing instruction extensions to support artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.

PIC64-HPSC MPUs offer a variety of new capabilities including Space-grade 64-bit MPU architecture, high-speed network connectivity, and low-latency data transfers, among others.
