10:12 AM EDT, 05/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Micron Technology ( MU ) said Tuesday it is expanding its workforce development initiatives.
The company said it's teaming up with GlobalFoundries ( GFS ) , the US National Science Foundation and other companies and organizations to meet increasing demand for semiconductor-sector workers in the US.
Micron said it's launching its Minority Serving Institution Semiconductor Network, which is a partnership with 16 historically Black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions and Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islander-serving organizations to improve access to education and develop a semiconductor workforce.
Also, US government representatives, Republic of Kenya President William Ruto and officials from US and Kenyan universities are joining Micron and other industry executives for the signing of a cooperation project between the US and Kenya to expand the semiconductor workforce, the company said.
