02:52 PM EDT, 10/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI's video-generating app Sora reached 1 million downloads in less than five days after launch, Sora head Bill Peebles said in a late Wednesday post on X.

Sora app downloads were faster than those ChatGPT recorded at launch, despite being an invite-only app targeted at North American consumers, according to the post.

The executive said that more features and fixes to the app are underway.
