Microsoft's Commitment to Unbundle Teams From Office 365 Accepted by EU
Sep 12, 2025 2:52 AM

05:40 AM EDT, 09/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The European Commission on Friday accepted commitments from Microsoft ( MSFT ) to resolve competition concerns over bundling its Teams app with Office 365 and Microsoft ( MSFT ) 365.

The commitments will henceforth be legally binding under EU antitrust rules, the commission said.

Under the commitments, the European Commission said Microsoft ( MSFT ) will sell versions of its business software without Teams at a lower price, allow customers with long-term licenses to switch, ensure compatibility with rival collaboration tools, and let users move their data out of Teams.

The measures will remain in force for 7 years, with some interoperability and data portability commitments extending to 10 years.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
