08:30 AM EDT, 07/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Midland Exploration ( MIDLF ) said it began a summer exploration-drilling program at its Patris gold property in northern Quebec

Barrick Gold ( GOLD ) will carry out the work, drilling three holes totaling 1,650 meters in the Belleaux area of the property. The summer program also includes mapping of anomalies identified in geophysical surveys.

Midland noted it recently received a $60,000 payment from Barrick Gold ( GOLD ) for its 2023 option to acquire a 75% interest in the property for $1.02 million in cash and $16.58 million of exploration spending over eight years.

Midland shares closed down $0.01 to $0.34 Monday on the TSX Venture Exchange.
