11:22 AM EDT, 04/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- NEO Battery Materials ( NBMFF ) (NBM.V ), up 5.8% on last look, on Tuesday said it is applying Elementium Materials' advanced electrolytes to its silicon battery platform for use in commercial applications.
As one of the four core battery components, electrolytes convey lithium ions between the anode and cathode during charging and discharging. While traditional electrolytes face corrosion, oxidation, and toxic gas formation issues, Elementium has engineered advanced electrolyte formulations to enhance battery stability, material robustness, and safety, Neo said.
Neo's application is part of a March 31 collaboration agreement with Elementium to improve electrochemical performance metrics, especially ultra-fast charging and discharging capabilities.
"High-demand, emerging downstream markets - such as power tools, humanoid robots, drone/UAV, and aerospace systems - require high-specification batteries in which silicon anodes and advanced electrolytes are indispensable components," said Spencer Huh, NEO's chief executive officer. "Through this collaboration, NEO and Elementium are confident to deliver solutions that address these increasingly stringent performance needs."
The company's shares were last seen up $0.04 to $0.73 on the TSX Venture Exchange.
