04:18 PM EDT, 10/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Newmont ( NEM ) said late Friday its Ahafo North project in Afrisipakrom, Ghana, has achieved commercial production.
The project is expected to produce around 50,000 ounces of gold in 2025, with production ramping up through 2026 to reach full operational capacity, the company said.
In the next five years, the project is expected to be capable of delivering 275,000 to 350,000 ounces annually over a 13-year mine life, according to a statement.
Ahafo North has created around 4,500 contracted jobs during construction, as well as about 560 permanent and 1,000 contracted positions for ongoing operations, according to the company.
