Nike Reportedly Loses Trademark Bid for 'Footware' to Puma in European Court; Ordered to Pay Legal Costs

03:06 PM EDT, 06/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Nike's ( NKE ) trademark application for the capitalized version of the word "footware" was dismissed by the General Court of the European Union and the shoemaker was ordered to pay legal costs in Puma's favor, media reports said Wednesday.

Nike ( NKE ) may appeal the decision to the European Court of Justice, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Neither Nike ( NKE ) nor Puma immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.

Shares of Nike ( NKE ) fell 2.1% in recent trading.
