09:11 AM EDT, 03/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Nuvei ( NVEI ) said Sunday it has formed a special committee of directors to evaluate certain offers and other strategic alternatives, responding to reports of the company undergoing talks for a deal that would take Nuvei ( NVEI ) private.

The company said it is "engaged in discussions with certain third parties in connection with a potential transaction involving continued significant ownership by certain of the holders of multiple voting shares," including Chief Executive Phil Fayer.

Nuvei ( NVEI ) said it is still evaluating options and that no decision has been made.

On Saturday, the Wall Street Journal reported that Nuvei ( NVEI ) was nearing a buyout deal with private equity firm Advent International.

Shares of the company were up nearly 29% in recent Monday premarket activity.
