12:01 PM EDT, 07/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Nuvei ( NVEI ) shares were up 0.4% in recent Wednesday trading, a day after the European Commission said it won't oppose Advent International's proposed acquisition of the payments company.

"The European Commission has concluded that the notified operation falls within the scope of the merger regulation," Olivier Guersent, the head of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Competition, said Tuesday. "The European Commission has decided not to oppose the notified operation and to declare it compatible with the internal market."
