03:38 PM EST, 11/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nvidia ( NVDA ) and Microsoft ( MSFT ) have committed to invest billions of dollars into Amazon ( AMZN )-backed (AMZN) artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, marking the latest mega collaboration among Big Tech companies.
Nvidia ( NVDA ) will invest up to $10 billion in Anthropic, while Microsoft ( MSFT ) committed to invest as much as $5 billion. Anthropic will buy $30 billion of Microsoft Azure compute capacity and contract additional capacity up to one gigawatt. The startup's compute commitment will initially be up to 1GW of capacity with Nvidia Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems, the companies said in a joint statement Tuesday.
"Anthropic is scaling its rapidly growing Claude AI model on Microsoft Azure, powered by Nvidia ( NVDA ), which will broaden access to Claude and provide Azure enterprise customers with expanded model choice and new capabilities," the companies said.
Claude's competitors include ChatGPT, the generative AI chatbot developed by Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed OpenAI.
"We are increasingly going to be customers of each other," Microsoft ( MSFT ) Chief Executive Satya Nadella said. "We will use Anthropic models, they will use our infrastructure, and we'll go to market together to help our customers realize the value of AI."
OpenAI remains "a critical partner" for Microsoft ( MSFT ), Nadella said. The tech giant has invested billions of dollars into OpenAI.
"This is the first time we are going to deeply partner with Anthropic to accelerate Claude," Nvidia ( NVDA ) CEO Jensen Huang said. "I'm really, really hoping for an order of magnitude speed up."
Separately, Anthropic said that e-commerce giant Amazon ( AMZN ) remains its primary cloud provider and training partner.
Earlier this month, Amazon ( AMZN ) secured a $38 billion deal with OpenAI. As part of the deal, the AI research lab gets access to Amazon Web Services' infrastructure comprising "hundreds of thousands" Nvidia ( NVDA ) chips under the seven-year partnership.
In September, Nvidia ( NVDA ) announced a deal to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI to support a new partnership aimed at helping the AI lab expand its computing power.
Nvidia ( NVDA ) is scheduled to report its latest quarterly financial results Wednesday.
