NYCFC acquire D Raul Gustavo from Hungarian side
Aug 15, 2025 9:24 AM

New York City FC announced the acquisition of defender Raul Gustavo from Hungarian side Ferencvarosi TC on Friday.

He is under contract through 2027, and the team holds options for 2028 and 2029.

The center back, a native of Brazil, made 24 appearances and scored two goals with Ferencvarosi TC, which won the league title last season and featured in the UEFA Europa League.

"We're happy to welcome Raul Gustavo to New York City," sporting director David Lee said. "(He) brings physical presence, composure on the ball and valuable European experience."

Gustavo, 26, started his career with Brazilian club S.C. Corinthians Paulista and also appeared in 18 matches on loan with Esporte Clube Bahia, a sister team of NYCFC in the City Football Group.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for me, and I'm grateful to be part of a Club with vast ambition," Gustavo said. "I've followed the growth of MLS and New York City's journey, and I'm motivated to contribute to the team's success."
