Omineca Says Wingdam Project Can Use Lower-Cost Traditional Mining Methods
Sep 6, 2024 1:30 PM

09:02 AM EDT, 09/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Omineca Mining and Metals ( OMMSF ) on Friday said it can use lower-cost traditional mining methods at the Wingdam Project in south central British Columbia.

The company said that after delays caused by high rainfall this summer, its joint venture partner D&L Mining has reached the interior of the paleochannel at the project. Despite the rains, the interior of the paleochannel was relatively dry, allowing for traditional mining methods to be used, meaning lower costs. The company described this development as "transformational" for the project.

The opening advance into the channel is already yielding coarse gold as expected, Omineca said. The company will further report on D&L's progress as the excavation advances toward the central portion of the channel where placer gold typically tends to accumulate in higher concentrations.
