07:16 AM EDT, 07/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI said it started testing a temporary prototype of a new artificial intelligence search offering.

The SearchGPT is designed to combine OpenAI's AI models with information from the web, along with attribution and links to inform users about the source of information, according to the company.

"SearchGPT will quickly and directly respond to your questions with up-to-date information from the web while giving you clear links to relevant sources," OpenAI said.

OpenAI said it plans to integrate SearchGPT into ChatGPT in the future.
