04:02 PM EDT, 09/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Patriot Battery Metals ( PMETF ) Wednesday afternoon shared an update on the permitting progress for its wholly owned Shaakichiuwaanaan lithium project in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Quebec.
The federal environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) has completed its planning phase, with the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) publishing both the tailored impact statement guidelines and a detailed permitting plan, the company said, adding that this aligns with its previously stated timeline for mine authorization.
At the same time, the provincial environmental and social impact assessment is underway. Patriot said it plans to submit its provincial ESIA by late 2025, followed by the federal application.
These submissions will be backed by more than three years of environmental studies and extensive community engagement, the company added.
"Within the approvals process to date, engagement with both the Cree, provincial, and federal authorities has been constructive and timely," Chief Executive Ken Brinsden said.
"Moving the project from discovery and the establishment of a globally significant resource, to the upcoming mine authorization process in less than four years is a remarkable achievement that demonstrates both the quality of the project and team delivering it," he added.
Patriot shares closed up $0.04 to $3.75 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
