08:48 AM EDT, 06/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- PayPal ( PYPL ) said Thursday it signed multiyear deals with the Big Ten and Big 12 athletic conferences to process institutional payments to student-athletes under a new revenue-sharing model.
Financial terms were not provided.
The company said the deal allows universities to use PayPal ( PYPL ) and Venmo to distribute payments directly to student-athletes, beginning this summer. The partnerships follow a court ruling permitting colleges to share revenue with athletes, according to the company.
PayPal ( PYPL ) will also become a preferred method for tuition payments at some schools starting in early 2026, the company said.
PayPal ( PYPL ) said its Venmo service will serve as a sponsor across athletic events in both conferences and expand its presence on campuses through promotions and merchant partnerships.
