Pediatrica Health Group Strengthens Commitment to Innovative Pediatric Care with New Manatee Acquisition
Oct 7, 2025 5:28 AM

Company prioritizes clinical research and enhanced best practices in their approach to expanding accessible care for all families.

MIAMI & BRADENTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Miami-based Pediatrica Health Group, a multi-site, pediatric primary care organization dedicated to providing equitable access to innovative care for kids, today announced the completed acquisition of Scarano and Taylor Pediatrics, owned and operated by Dr. Joseph Scarano and Dr. Adilia Florentina Taylor. In addition to Pediatrica expanding and creating more opportunities for the Manatee community to access quality care, these providers bring a wealth of experience in the area of clinical research – one of the key tenets of Next Generation CareSM that sets Pediatrica Health Group apart in the pediatric primary care space.

“Next Generation CareSM is a game changer; steadily learning and evolving care to help kids be healthy and grow into healthy adults…”

“More than just an opportunity to grow our footprint, navigating with intention has been an imperative part of the strategy for Pediatrica from day one,” commented Pediatrica CEO, Roberto Palenzuela. “Dr. Taylor and Dr. Scarano have a rich history in clinical research and a passion to continually work toward better outcomes for the families they serve. This is what makes Next Generation CareSM a game changer; steadily learning and evolving care to help kids be healthy and grow into healthy adults.”

This pediatric duo exemplifies this principle. Dr. Taylor has served as a postdoctoral fellow and staff scientist, and she was part of a team conducting groundbreaking cardiopulmonary studies at the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research in collaboration with researchers from the United States Air Force Wilford Hall Medical Center. She also participated in the development of a novel high-frequency ventilator for premature newborns, has co-authored numerous articles in professional journals, and was principal investigator for a major research grant from the American Heart Association. Additionally, as a board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Taylor is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a faculty member of the Florida State University College of Medicine, where she continues to teach medical and physician assistant students.

Dr. Scarano has served as chief of pediatrics at several Florida hospitals and held numerous influential positions within the hospital systems. He, too, is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a faculty member of the Florida State University College of Medicine, where he continues to teach medical and physician assistant students, in addition to presenting medical lectures at regional and national pediatric medical conferences. Specializing in child development, adolescent medicine, psychiatry/behavioral health, nutrition, and fitness, Dr. Scarano has been an active participant in pediatric medical research as a member of Pediatric Research in the Office Setting (PROS), an affiliate of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Paying it forward for generations to come…

Partnering with Pediatrica affords providers like Drs. Scarano and Taylor the time and resources to do what they do best – deliver exceptional care. Relieved of the administrative burdens of running a practice, they have the ability to center their focus on listening, learning, and introducing new best practices to the next generation of providers. A ripple effect that will gift our communities in perpetuity.
