SAO PAULO, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Brazilian petrochemical
company Braskem reported on Friday a net profit of
3.33 billion reais ($642.9 million) for the April-June quarter,
reversing a net loss of 267 million reais a year earlier, as the
company continues talks with creditors on a capital
restructuring.
* Braskem is Latin America's largest petrochemical firm
* Recurring EBITDA totaled 5.25 billion reais in the second
quarter, compared with 427 million reais a year earlier
* The increase was driven by higher international prices
after the conflict in the Middle East disrupted global raw
material supplies
* Net revenue rose 22% from a year earlier to 21.72 billion
reais
* Santander analysts said a sharp improvement in Braskem's
cash generation and leverage in the quarter
* However, they said negative working capital and tight
liquidity continued to weigh on the outlook
* Braskem said it had received preliminary non-binding
proposals from groups of creditors
* The company is grappling with over $10 billion in debt
across operations in Brazil, Europe and the U.S.
* Reuters reported earlier this week, citing sources, that
the potential out-of-court restructuring could be filed as early
as this month
* Braskem's control is shared between private equity firm
IG4 and Brazilian state-run oil company Petrobras
