Pinnacle West Capital Subsidiary to Seek License Renewal for Palo Verde Generating Station's Nuclear Units

10:51 AM EDT, 03/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Pinnacle West Capital ( PNW ) subsidiary Arizona Public Service said Monday it has officially notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of its intent to renew the operating licenses for all three nuclear units of the Palo Verde Generating Station west of Phoenix.

A successful license renewal could extend operations from the mid-2040s to the mid-2060s, the company said.

Palo Verde is the largest power generator in the western US, with a capacity of 4,200 megawatts, Arizona Public Service said.
