06:03 AM EST, 01/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Planet Labs (PL) said Tuesday it launched its Pelican-2 satellite and 36 SuperDoves on SpaceX's Transporter-12 Rideshare mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
The company confirmed contact with Pelican-2 and has begun its commissioning process.
Pelican-2 provides 40 centimeter class resolution images through six multispectral bands.
Planet said the satellite uses Nvidia's (NVDA) Jetson platform for on-orbit computing to reduce the time between data capture and delivery.
The company plans to launch more Pelican satellites later in 2025, Planet Labs added.
