Planet Labs Releases First Light Images From Pelican-3 Satellite

05:32 PM EDT, 09/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Planet Labs (PL) said late Thursday it released the first light images of Turin, Italy, from its Pelican-3 satellite that was launched on SpaceX's Falcon 9 mission on Aug. 26.

Image quality is expected to improve as the spacecraft completes its instrument calibration and reaches final operational orbits, according to a statement.

The company said it expects more Pelican satellite launches starting next year.
