Polestar EV Prototype Demonstrates Extremely Fast Charging

01:51 PM EDT, 04/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- A Polestar (PSNY) prototype demonstrated charging capabilities from 10% to 80% in 10 minutes with extreme fast charging technology from electric vehicle battery maker StoreDot, Polestar said Monday.

The Swedish EV maker said that the fully driveable verification prototype, Polestar 5, had a charge rate starting at 310 kilowatts and increasing to peak exceeding 370 kilowatts at the end of charging. The prototype was equipped with StoreDot's fast charging technology that uses silicon-dominant cells, according to a press release.

Polestar said that the test was aimed to show proof-of-concept for extreme fast charging technology that could be applied to its vehicles.

Polestar shares rose 4% in recent trading.
