10:12 AM EDT, 10/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Portland General Electric ( POR ) and GridCARE have completed a joint project in Hillsboro, Oregon, to accelerate large-load interconnections for data centers using artificial intelligence, according to a statement Wednesday.
The collaboration will provide over 80 megawatts of new capacity for data centers by 2026 and more than 400 MW by 2029, enabling Portland General Electric ( POR ) to connect multiple data center customers years sooner than traditional grid upgrades would allow, the companies said.
With the use of GridCARE's DeFlex technology, Portland General Electric ( POR ) is able to identify capacity on the existing grid and apply generative AI forecasting, allowing for more efficient use of existing assets and keeping costs low for customers, the companies said.
