- Japan's Seven & i Holdings ( SVNDF ) has rejected Canadian
firm Alimentation Couche-Tard's ( ANCTF ) $38.5 billion takeover
offer as the proposal undervalued the 7-Eleven operator and over
possible opposition from antitrust regulators.
- Texas-based McKesson Corp ( MCK ) said on Thursday that it
has sold its pharmacy chain, Rexall, that includes 385
brick-and-mortar pharmacies as well as the Well.ca e-commerce
site to Canadian private equity firm Birch Hill Equity Partners.
- Jeremy Broadhurst, a prominent senior Liberal for the past
two decades, has quit his post as campaign director for the
party, a day after the New Democratic Party ended its
co-operative agreement with the Liberal government.
- Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland has alleged
that three principal shareholders in Wealth One Bank of Canada
were vulnerable to coercion by China's ruling Communist Party
and may have engaged in money laundering as part of Beijing's
foreign-interference operations in Canada.
