- Canada's Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. ( ANCTF ) said it
was willing to engage in confidential discussions with Japanese
retail giant Seven & i Holdings ( SVNDF ) on its approximately
$39 billion takeover offer, as it remains keen on pursuing a
buyout.
- U.S.-based property and casualty insurer PURE Insurance
will expand into Canada, making its first move outside of the
U.S., with the launch of a Toronto office offering home
insurance policies to homeowners with properties worth more than
$2 million.
- Five of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's 38
ministers are losing their chiefs of staff in quick succession,
just as the minority Liberals are returning to a precarious
position in the House of Commons, having lost the automatic
support of the New Democratic Party.
