08:34 AM EST, 02/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Probe Gold ( PROBF ) provided Tuesday positive results from geochemical characterization studies at its Novador project in Quebec.
The company said studies confirmed earlier results that waste rock and tailings pose a very low risk of acid generation and metal leaching, meeting regulatory standards.
Kinetic field tests also confirmed non-acid-generating, non-leachable classification for the waste rock in the Monique sector of the project. Kinetic tests for Pascalis and Courvan sectors will be completed in 2025-2026.
According to Probe, this classification will lower mining infrastructure costs and facilitate permitting of the project.
Results indicate a very low risk of environmental contamination, especially for surface water and groundwater, Probe added.
"We have consistently demonstrated that the mining materials are non-acid-generating and non-leachable in metals, significantly reducing the risk of environmental contamination, particularly for surface and groundwater," President and CEO David Palmer said.
"This positive classification not only supports responsible mining practices but also presents an opportunity to repurpose these materials for mine site infrastructure and reclamation, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable development."
Probe said it plans to integrate the results from the environmental geochemical characterization program into the project's block models.
The company will also engage with the provincial government to obtain necessary authorizations.
Probe's share price fell 3% on Friday to $1.94 on the TSX.
