01:35 PM EST, 12/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor ( F ) has addressed concerns involving its 2012-2018 Ford Focus compact cars, prompting the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to close an investigation into the effectiveness of remedies for two prior recalls issued for such models.
The investigation, opened in September 2023, evaluated the company's handling of recalls, which addressed a malfunctioning canister purge valve that could lead to fuel tank deformation, drivability issues, and loss of motive power.
Ford launched a customer satisfaction program in September 2024 to address the issue with canister purge valve functionality in the affected vehicles, according to an NHTSA report seen by MT Newswires.
This program provides a one-time replacement of the canister purge valve for eligible vehicles and transfers to subsequent owners.
The automaker recalled nearly 1.5 million Ford Focus vehicles because of possible loss of power related due to a malfunctioning of the canister purge valve, according to the report.
